Kiwanda Maji is the perfect combination between a working farm, combined with the rich nature that is present in the area to offer several hectares of forest, nature trails, and rich flora and fauna. The visitor may enjoy the following attractions, combined with the observation of fruit trees that are
part of the gardens:
-Visit the goats, sheep, horses, and donkeys: Here, the visitor will get to know these farm animals and its varieties. Will learn about the benefits that goats contribute with on a farm (milk and cheese), from the donkeys, learn about their historic importance in the working farms.
- Visit the milking area and cheese factory: Here, the visitor will learn about the milking process in the farm. During the visit to the cheese factory, learn about and taste the artisan cheese produced in the farm (fresh, traditional Costa Rican, and with different herbs and spices) along with a non-alcoholic drink (wine and beer available for purchase).
- Visit the pigs: Pigs are a traditional animal in the Costa Rican farms, because of their meat. You will learn about its sustainable feeding, taking advantage of the cow’s serum.
- The tour around the farm ends with the visit to the “Hens and friends” gallery: Here, the visitor will learn about laying hens and also about chickens. The area also features ducks, turkey and other animals that live together with the hens.
Once the tour of the farm has ended, the day continues with the nature walk, visiting first “Itio’s waterfall” with its impressive beauty and fall.
Afterward, venture into the “Heliconias” trail, a path of 780 meters length. Here, there is an opportunity to observe big trees such as the Ceibas, Chapernos, and cecropias, and palms of different varieties, all combined with humid soils that are excellent habitats, rich in nutrients that induce the growth of mushrooms, lichens and insects. To finish the experience, arrive at the Restaurant and its lake, surrounded by the scenic beauty of the Blue River (Río Azul), The Lake, whose waters come from the Volcano, provides an opportunity for a refreshing bath, a kayak ride or a walk around its surroundings to enjoy the natural beauty.
